Getting started

How do I start my first focus session?

Open the Timer tab and tap Start for a free-focus session, or tap the ▶ button on any task card to run a pomodoro tied to that task. The ring around the clock fills up as the session progresses.

How do I add a task?

Tap the round + button in the bottom-right corner. Give the task a title, then optionally set a start time and a due time. You can also type in the small input box at the bottom of the Today list and let GrowTime turn your line into a task.

What do the little symbols on a calendar day mean?

A ◷ badge means that day has at least one task with a scheduled time (a start time or a due time). A coloured dot means there are open tasks that day, and a grey dot means the tasks are done but you still logged focus time.

Can I change the length of a pomodoro?

Yes. Open Settings and adjust the focus, short-break and long-break lengths under Timer presets. You can also choose how many pomodoros pass before a long break.

Timer

Does the timer keep running if I close the app?

Yes. The countdown is based on the clock rather than on a foreground process, so switching apps or locking the screen does not lose your progress. Reopen GrowTime and the remaining time is correct.

Can I pause or skip a session?

Tap Pause to hold the countdown, Resume to continue, or the skip button to jump to the next phase. The reset button at the left restarts the current phase from the beginning.

What does the sentence under the clock do?

It is a rotating motivational line that changes every few seconds — a small nudge to stay with the task. It never affects your timer or your statistics.

Why is my focus time different from the number of pomodoros?

Only sessions that run to completion are counted. If you stop a pomodoro halfway, it is not added to your totals, which keeps your daily and monthly statistics honest.

Tasks & calendar

What is the difference between a start time and a due time?

A start time is when you plan to begin, a due time is when the task must be finished. The calendar shows the ◷ marker for either, and overdue tasks turn a warning colour so you can spot them quickly.

How do I mark a task complete or delete it?

Tap the circle on the left of a task to complete it — tap again to undo. To delete, swipe the task row to the left in the Tasks tab and tap Delete.

Can I plan tasks for future days?

Yes. Open the Calendar tab, tap any day to open its sheet, and add a task to that day. Past days are read-only so your history stays a faithful record of what actually happened.

Does GrowTime read or write my device calendar?

Only if you explicitly allow calendar access. GrowTime never reads your existing events; calendar access is used solely to place a task you asked to schedule.

GrowTime Premium

What does the one-time purchase include?

GrowTime Premium unlocks three things: it removes banner ads everywhere in the app, it opens all 8 focus sounds (3 stay free forever), and it lets you set custom focus and break lengths instead of the fixed 25 / 5 / 15. It is a one-time, non-consumable purchase — there is no subscription and nothing to cancel.

I paid but the app still shows ads. What now?

Open Settings and tap Restore purchases. If you are signed in to the same Apple Account that made the purchase, the unlock is restored immediately. Still stuck? Email us with your Apple Account region and roughly when you purchased.

How do I get a refund?

All payments are handled by Apple, so refunds are requested from Apple as well: visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, and select the purchase. We cannot issue refunds directly.

Will Premium transfer to a new iPhone?

Yes. A non-consumable purchase is tied to your Apple Account. Install GrowTime on the new device, open Settings and tap Restore purchases.

Ads & privacy

Why does GrowTime show ads?

Ads keep the app free. They appear only at the bottom of the Timer, Tasks and Calendar tabs — never on top of a running focus session — and unlocking Premium removes them completely.

Can I limit personalised advertising?

Yes. On first launch you can decline tracking, and you can change your mind at any time in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland you are asked for consent before any ads are requested.

Do you collect my tasks or focus history?

No. Your tasks, sessions and settings are stored only on your device and are never uploaded to us. See the privacy policy for the full detail.

Data & account

Do I need an account?

No. GrowTime works fully offline without signing up, so nothing about you needs to live on a server.

How do I delete all my data?

Open Settings and use Reset all data to erase every task, session and preference from the device. Deleting the app has the same effect.

I deleted the app and my tasks are gone. Can you restore them?

Unfortunately not. Because your data never leaves your device and we keep no server copy, removing the app removes the data. Please avoid deleting the app unless you are happy to start fresh.

Troubleshooting

The quickest fixes for the issues we hear about most.

The timer stopped counting down

  1. Make sure the session is not paused — the centre button should read Pause while a session runs.
  2. Force-quit GrowTime and open it again; the remaining time is recalculated from the clock, so nothing is lost.
  3. Check that iOS Low Power Mode is off. It can delay background refresh, though the countdown itself stays accurate.
  4. If it keeps happening, email us your iOS version and the exact steps you took.

Reminders never arrive

  1. Open iOS Settings › Notifications › GrowTime and make sure Allow Notifications is on.
  2. Check that Focus / Do Not Disturb is not silencing GrowTime.
  3. Set a start time or due time on the task — reminders are scheduled from those times.
  4. Turn the reminder permission off and on again inside GrowTime Settings to re-register.

No ◷ marker on the calendar

  1. The marker only appears for tasks that have a start time or a due time. Edit the task and add one.
  2. Confirm the task is on the day you are looking at — swipe the month arrows to check neighbouring months.
  3. Tasks in the Inbox (no date) never appear on the calendar; open the task and assign a date.

Restore purchases did nothing

  1. Sign in to the App Store with the same Apple Account you used to buy Premium (iOS Settings › your name › Media & Purchases).
  2. Check your internet connection and try again — restoring needs to reach Apple.
  3. Open Settings in GrowTime and tap Restore purchases, then wait a few seconds for the receipt check.
  4. Still nothing? Email us the Apple Account region and the approximate purchase date and we will investigate.

The app crashes or will not open

  1. Update to the latest version from the App Store.
  2. Restart your iPhone, then open GrowTime again.
  3. If it persists, email us your device model and iOS version — and note whether it crashes on launch or after a specific action.
